A recent visit to Liverpool provided an enjoyable opportunity to explore the city with a small group of fellow photographers under the guidance of Charlie Waite and Astrid McGechan. Liverpool’s rich architectural character and striking waterfront offered a wide range of subjects, from grand civic spaces to dramatic modern structures. During our time in the city we photographed the remarkable interior of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, the imposing neoclassical grandeur of St George’s Hall, and the elegant spaces of Liverpool Central Library. We also spent time along the historic waterfront, including the area around the Museum of Liverpool and the ever-photogenic Royal Albert Dock. The photographs on this page are a small selection from that visit — an exploration of light, form and atmosphere in one of Britain’s most distinctive cities.
